Depths of Duty: Documenting My Brother’s Work as U.S. Army Diver
This series began with my brother, SSG Osentowski, a U.S. Army diver. Watching him dedicate himself to a job that exists mostly out of sight made me want to understand that world — the one beneath the surface, where visibility fades and silence become language.
When I photographed the divers, I expected to capture strength and intensity. What I found instead were moments of quiet focus, trust, and humanity. There’s a calm before every dive, a kind of surrender to the unknown that feels deeply personal.
These photos are, in many ways, my attempt to see my brother’s world — to understand the space between duty and identity, between control and vulnerability. They’re not just images of soldiers working underwater, but of people who choose to go where few others can, carrying both weight and purpose.
Through this project, I hope viewers feel the same respect and awe I have for those who serve in silence — especially my brother, whose courage continues to inspire me.
